K. SCOTT SORENSEN, MD

Dr. Sorensen received his M.D. degree from Loyola University. Upon completion of medical school, he accepted a commission in the United States Army.

After completing his internship at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas, he served as a Flight Surgeon with the Aviation Warfighting Center in Alabama. While there, he was selected to a position as a clinic chief. He also rose to the position of brigade surgeon for the Aviation Training Brigade.

Dr. Sorensen then went on to complete the rigorous training in the combined ophthalmology residency program at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda in the Washington DC Area. After residency, He served as chief of Ophthalmology services at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. At Fort Leonard Wood, while working closely with a board certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Sorensen gained further proficiency in ophthalmic plastic surgery including midfacial rejuvenation procedures.

After completing his military career, Dr. Sorensen joined Kitsap Eye to be closer to his family in Sequim. He has lived on the Kitsap Peninsula for the past fifteen years with his wife and two kids. He is married to a local Optometric Physician, and has served as the chief of ophthalmology at Harrison Medical Center.

In addition, he has also preformed literally thousands of ophthalmic microsurgical procedures for such problems as diabetes, glaucoma and cataracts, including no-shot, no-stitch, small incision cataract surgery.

He is experienced in medical research, has made presentations on ocular trauma on the national level, and regularly presents lectures on eye disease.

He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology with exam scores in the top 5%.
